Far from Heaven

Have you ever thought that your life was a merry delusion? Have you been forced to live in a lie? This is the life of Cathleen in Far from Heaven.
I watched Far From Heaven after reading 迷魂陣.

At the very beginning, the movie showed beautiful pictures of Cathy’s life, which in many standards they were the images of heaven. The elegant country house of yore; the harmonious mixture of maple red, yellow and verdant garden; it’s a place you would like to live in because it appeared to be wonderful.

But then the cruel reality soon sneaked in, her husband was a homo; she couldn’t tell anyone because she wanted to protect her so-called life and family; she couldn’t talk to the only man who understood her because he was black. Her whole life was a tragedy caused by community judgments and strict moral codes. She really lived far away from heaven.

You will see many extinct viewpoints in this movie such as homosexuality as a psychopathological disease and black people were lower class race. I believed people will get into law sues if they treat people like that nowadays. In general I think this movie is a good watch and Julianne Moore was just magnificent in here.

Shouldn't we be glad that we are taught and encouraged to voice our thoughts and feelings, and choose our own paths?
