I finally get hold of a long-waited book, Child of Our Time, today. It is a book accompanying stories of 25 children in the BBC documentary series. These children were born around January 2000 and BBC planned to document their growth in 20 years. In another word, we could see a child growing from infant to adult. The contemporary series intended to investigate the long debate controversial question: “Are we made by nature or nurture?”
This is THE questions for developmental psychologist. And for the past few decades (after the groundbreaking Piaget), psychologists did researches with identical twins, compare between social groups, researches in schools etc but hardly ever as long and persistently as 20 years.
This book featured the first 5 years of these children and the observation of changes through different stages and milestones. It’s educational and extremely useful for parental guidance. Have a look if you may!

wow... it seems like a very interesting research. i spent much time on the topic "how children acquire/learn their 1st & 2nd languages" last year when i was doing the research for a language education course. & i always find there are jus way too many surprises to witness a child's growth.
hehe... tho i hv no clue if i wld become a parent someday, i'm interested in the book. & thankssss much for recommending it huh Jessie!
ME TOO! I have been very hungry for books ~ Great recommendation ~ I'll go to indigo (book store) to fetch it!!
